Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani: Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt to headline Karan Johar's new directorial

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt will headline Karan Johar's new directorial, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film is written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan and Sumit Roy, and will also feature actors Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi in pivotal roles. The film is scheduled to hit screens in 2022. 

Dharma Productions tweeted, "Ab hogi kahani shuru! (now the story will begin!) Presenting Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, starring the powerhouse of actors - Ranveer Singh & Alia Bhatt. Directed by the one and only, Karan Johar and written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan & Sumit Roy. All set to hit the screens in 2022!." 

Karan's last feature film as director was Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016). He also helmed segments in Lust Stories (2018) and Ghost Stories (2020). The director had earlier announced Takht as his next venture. However, the film has been put on hold for now. 

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt were co-stars in Gully Boy (2019). They were supposed to work together in Takht but will instead be collaborating on Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani first.
