Bringing back titles of classic films has been in vogue in Kannada cinema for a while now. After films like Ganesh-starrer Geetha and Sharan-starrer Guru Shishyaru, Santhosh G's upcoming film has been named after a classic Kannada film. The makers, who were scouting for the right title, have chosen the name of director Puttanna Kanagal's classic 1975 film, Shubhamangala.

The multi-starrer features Meghana Gaonkar, Hitha Chandrashekar, Siddharth Madhyamika, and Rakesh Maiya.

The teaser of the film was unveiled by veteran director Bhagvan (Dorai Bhagavan) on Sunday. Directed by short filmmaker Santhosh, Shubhamangala takes place around a wedding choultry and consists of five short stories.

The film has music by Judah Sandy, while Rakesh has handled the cinematography.

The filming of Shubhamangala is complete and the makers are awaiting the government's nod for 100 per cent occupancy in theatres to release the film.
