Ayushmann Khurrana ‘humbled’ to be named in Time’s 100 most influential people list

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana says he is humbled to be mentioned in the Time's 100 most influential people list of 2020. Along with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, the list also includes Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-ho, singers Selena Gomez and The Weekend, Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge and British actor Michaela Coel. Other mentions from India include 82-year-old Bilkis ‘Dadi’ of Shaheen Bagh and Indian-origin doctor and professor Ravindra Gupta.

Speaking about the honour, Ayushmann said, “I’m truly humbled with the recognition that TIME has bestowed on me. As an artiste, I have only looked to contribute towards bringing a positive change in society through cinema and this moment is a huge validation of my belief system and my journey. I have always believed that cinema has the power to bring about change by triggering the right conversations among people and society. Hopefully, through my content choices, I have been able to contribute towards my country and countrymen.”

Ayushmann’s last release was Gulabo Sitabo (on Amazon Prime). He won the National Film Award earlier this year for his performance in Badhaai Ho (2019).
