It's official! Selvaraghavan, Dhanush to collaborate for Pudhupettai 2
While it was already known that Dhanush would collaborate with Selvaraghavan on the latter's next film, this is the first confirmation that this project will be a sequel to the cult gangster drama
In a surprise announcement, director Selvaraghavan has confirmed that his next project will be with his brother Dhanush and that the film will be a sequel to their much-celebrated 2006 gangster drama, Pudupettai.
The 7G Rainbow Colony filmmaker, who celebrated his birthday recently, made the announcement at a college festival on Friday. "For long, I have been asked about my next project. After NGK, I will be joining hands with Dhanush for Pudupettai 2," said Selvaraghavan to much cheer from the audience.
It was already known that Dhanush would collaborate with Selvaraghavan on the latter's next film, but this is the first confirmation that this project will be a sequel to the cult gangster drama.
While the first film had music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, the upcoming sequel is expected to have Sean Roldan in charge. Selvaraghavan had also recently tweeted that he has completed scripting the film.
The original starred Dhanush as the gangster Kokki Kumar and is one of the actor's most renowned works. Notably, Pudupettai 2 would be the fifth film that the actor-director duo is collaborating on after Thulluvatho Ilamai, Kadhal Kondein, Pudupettai, and Mayakkam Enna.
Dhanush is currently working on Mari Selvaraj's Karnan. The Pattas actor also has Karthik Subbaraj's Jagame Thandiram, the Karthick Naren-directorial referred to as D43, and a film with Ram Kumar in the pipeline.
