Nawazuddin Siddiqui turns investigative cop in his upcoming Netflix release, Raat Akeli Hai. The film is directed by casting director Honey Trehan and also stars Radhika Apte. The trailer, which was released today, sets up an intriguing murder mystery in the northern heartland.

Inspector Jatil Yadav (Nawazuddin) is summoned to probe the murder of a local politician. He meets the suspects: the politician’s wife (Radhika Apte), her supposed lover (Nishant Dahiya), and a string of family members and aides. The investigation centers on a serpentine haveli, with Jatil sniffing out clues and hidden motives. The case is complicated by a host of characters, played by Shweta Tripathi, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Aditya Shrivastava, Shivani Raghuvanshi, Ila Arun and others.

Honey Trehan has previously assisted Vishal Bharadwaj on films like 7 Khoon Maaf, Omkara, and Maqbool. He launched his production house, MacGuffin Pictures, in 2015.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s other upcoming releases are Bole Chudiyan and No Land’s Man. He has previously collaborated with Radhika Apte in Badlapur, Manjhi: The Mountain Man, and Sacred Games.
