The sci-fi film also has many other actors, who are new to the franchise, including Neil Patrick Harris, Toby Onwumere, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
The Matrix franchise is about a dystopian future where self-aware Machines take control of the world, breed humans, and trap them in an illusion called The Matrix, to derive thermal energy for their survival. A section of free people fight against the Machines for the liberation of humankind.
The first three parts of the franchise were directed by the Wachowski sisters — Lana Wachowski and Lilly Wachowski. However, only Lana Wachowski, who recently made the Netflix series Sense 8, will be returning to direct the fourth Matrix film.
