Shooting of Upendra's Kabza to begin December 20

The shoot, which was initially supposed to resume in October, was pushed after director Chandru and his family tested positive for COVID-19

The shooting of Upendra-starrer Kabza is all set to start on December 20. The shoot, which was initially supposed to resume in October, was pushed after director Chandru and his family tested positive for COVID-19. The filmmaker has now recovered and is back at work.

As planned earlier, the filming will start with a jail episode, for which KGF art director Shivakumar has come up with a large set built at a huge cost at Minerva Mills.

Kabza, set in the 1980s and based on the underworld, is being made by Siddheshwara Enterprises. The action-drama will be shot in Kannada and Telugu, and will be dubbed and released in Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, Marathi and Bengali as well.

This is the third collaboration between Upendra and R Chandru, after Brahma and I Love You

Besides Upendra, Kabza consists of a host of actors, including Kabir Duhan Singh, Kota Srinivas Rao, Jaya Prakash, Kaat Raju, Subbaraju, Avinash, and M Kamaraj, all of whom play antagonists. However, the director is yet to finalise the film’s heroine, and plans to announce the actor only by January.

Meanwhile, Chandru has been working on the music with music director Ravi Basrur. The film's songs are penned by Ramajogayya Sastry and Varadaraj. “The film has five songs, and lyrics of one song for the Telugu version has been penned by well-known lyricist Ramajogayya Sastry. We also have dialogue writer Varadaraj, who hails from Karnataka and is currently associated with SS Rajamouli, penning the lyrics for one track for the Kannada version,” says Chandru.
