Sonam Kapoor will star in the Hindi remake of the South Korean thriller Blind. The film is being directed by Shome Makhija, an associate of Sujoy Ghosh, who serves as a creative producer.

The story of Blind revolves around a visually-impaired ex-cop who helps solve a string of serial murders. Released in 2011, the film was remade in China and Japan in recent years.

“A friend of mine, Shome Makhija, is directing the film. It’s an out-and-out female hero story,” Sujoy stated. The filmmaker’s last film, Badla, starring Taapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bachchan, was incidentally also a remake — of the Spanish thriller Contratiempo.

Sonam Kapoor was recently seen in The Zoya Factor, an adaptation of Anuja Chauhan’s 2008 novel. She is also expected to star in Battle For Bitora.

Popular South Korean films to have been remade in Hindi include Oldboy (Zinda), The Chaser (Murder 2), and I Saw The Devil (Ek Villain).
