Sasikumar to star in biopic on Tamil Nadu’s visionary agriculturalist, Nel Jayaraman

Actor-director Sasikumar has recently revealed that he will soon star in a biopic on Nel Jayaraman, an important farmer’s crusader and consumer activist from Tamil

Mr. Jayaraman who passed away in December last year due to cancer, has been an inspiration to many to take up farming. Well known for his untiring efforts towards collecting, preserving and reviving traditional varieties of paddy, the visionary agriculturalist was recently featured in the Class XII botany textbook published for State board schools.

The news of Jayaraman finding a place in the textbook was revealed on Twitter by director Era Saravanan, who had directed the Naren-starrer, Kathukutty a film based on agriculture. Sasikumar retweeted Era Saravanan's tweet, mentioning that work on the crusader's biopic is currently underway. He also revealed that Saravanan will direct the biopic, which will have him play Nel Jayaraman.

It is to be noted that Jayaraman had inspired film personalities like Sivakarthikeyan and Karthi. In fact, Sivakarthikeyan had taken care of the medical expenses of Jayaraman in his final days.
