Revealed: Anushka plays Rani Laxmi Bai in Chiranjeevi's Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy

We had earlier reported that Anushka Shetty, who was signed to play a crucial cameo in Chiranjeevi-starrer Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, has completed shooting for her part in the big-budget historical.

The latest update about the film is that the Baahubali actor will be playing The Rani of Jhansi, Laxmi Bai in the war drama, directed by Surender Reddy.

A source close to the film's unit says that Anushka will be seen as a warrior queen, who was one of the principal leaders of the Indian Rebellion of 1857. "She narrates the valour and courage of Kurnool-based Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy and credits him as India’s first freedom fighter in the film. It's an important role that also comes at another crucial juncture right before the interval," adds the source.

Produced by Ram Charan, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is in its last leg of production, and the team is planning to release it on October 2 in multiple languages.

Nayanthara will be seen as Siddhamma, while Amitabh Bachchan and Vijay Sethupathi are essaying the roles of Gosayi Venkanna and Pandi Raja in the film, which has music by Amit Trivedi.

Anushka, meanwhile, is currently in Seattle, shooting for her first ever cross-over film, Nishabdam. Also starring Madhavan, Shalini Pandey, and Anjali, the investigative-thriller is being directed by Hemant Madhukar.
