Bharathiraja's long-delayed dream project Kuttra Parambarai to be launched as a web series

Bharathiraja's dream project, Kuttra Parambarai, will be made as a web series produced by Suresh Kamatchi, under his banner of V House Productions.

Bharathiraja and Bala were earlier at loggerheads over this project, and neither film actually went on floors.

Kuttra Parambarai, set in the 19th century during the British era, will reportedly tell the story of the ‘denotified’ tribal community of the same name, who were notified by the British as ‘criminals’. According to historians, people belonging to these tribes face discrimination even today.

Bharathiraja's web series will be co-written by his regular collaborator, Rathna Kumar. "This project is an attempt to eradicate the stigma forced upon my ancestors," Bharathiraja has been quoted as saying in an earlier interview.

The series is expected to go on floors in January.
