Actor-director MG Srinivas’ upcoming directorial has been titled Old Monk. But there is a twist to it, says the director.
“Old Monk means ‘old sanyasi’, and my film is based on Narada, the Bal Brahmachari in mythology, and we have given his story a modern revamp in our movie. The story is about a sanyasi who is known for gossiping and stirring up controversies, and how he eventually falls in love. I thought naming it Old Monk would be apt,” says Srinivas.
The director, who also plays the lead role, adds that he is in the process of finalising the rest of the cast and crew before commencing the shoot in January.
Srinivas made his debut with Topiwala, starring Upendra. He later took up the dual responsibilities of direction and acting in films like Srinivasa Kalyana and his last outing, Birbal Trilogy: Case No 1, Finding Vajramuni.
