The first look poster of Shakeela, a biopic on controversial southern actor Shakeela Khan, starring Richa Chadha, was released today. Directed by Indrajit Lankesh, the film charts Shakeela's rise to fame after the untimely demise of Silk Smitha and the many enemies she made along the way. The film reunites Richa Chadha with her Gangs of Wasseypur and Masaan co-star, Pankaj Tripathi.

Shakeela was primarily known for her roles in adult films in the Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada industries. Her films were translated into foreign languages such as Chinese, Russian, Nepali and Sinhala. Her popularity at the box-office was hailed as responsible for helping cinema halls survive in B and C towns across South India.

Richa Chadha was last seen in Love Sonia and Ishqeria. Her upcoming releases include the dance drama, Cabaret, and the comedy film, Ghoomketu

Shakeela is produced by Magic Cinemas and Yoddhas Entertainment. The film is scheduled for release in Summer 2019.
