With the web series trend taking strong hold in the country, we had recently reported that actor Sunainaa will soon join the fray. Now, we hear, that her upcoming web series is about vampires. Starring Mankatha-fame Ashwin Kakumanu in the lead, the series is titled Nila Nila Odi Vaa.

Speaking about it, Ashwin says, "It's a mix of rom-com as well as a vampire thriller. Director Nandhini (of Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru fame) has conceptualised a sub-culture in which vampires live in Chennai. There are vampires who want to take over the city and be the majority, and there are also people who hunt these vampires."

In this series, Ashwin plays Om, a tattoo artist. "Om runs into his college crush 10 years after seeing her for the last time, only to find that she's become a vampire. My character serves as the audience surrogate as he's also new to this sub-culture; everything is communicated through him. It's a unique show even for the web series space. We've tried to be ambitious with the content despite a budget that's not on par with films."

Nila Nila Odi Vaa, which streams on Viu from next Tuesday, has 13 episodes. The series ends with a cliffhanger, thereby leaving open the option of more seasons. The series also stars Sun TV VJs Aswath and Bavithra.
