The makers of 2016's sleeper hit, Happy Bhag Jayegi, are back with a second instalment titled Happy Phir Bhag Jayegi. Besides the original cast of Diana Penty, Jimmy Shergill and Ali Fazal, the sequel welcomes Sonakshi Sinha and Jassi Gill into the franchise. Both Sonakshi and Diana play characters named 'Happy', which sets off a comedy of errors. While the first film was set in India and Pakistan, the new one takes off for China.

"It's a sequel, so I am continuing with my character of 'Happy'. I had slight inhibitions while shooting for the first film since I am very different from the character - Happy is very outspoken and a troublemaker, which I am not. But I really enjoyed the working on the sequel and had a blast. I feel so attached to the character now," said Diana at a media interaction in Mumbai, adding that all the elements of fun, drama and confusion are doubled in the new film.

"I play the new 'Happy' in the film, which creates a lot of confusion. I am very similar to my 'Happy' - she is today's girl, well-educated and really loves her family. She's also a very Punjabi girl. People think I am very Punjabi, although I am not, because I'm always listening to Punjabi music and gorging on Punjabi food," said Sonakshi Sinha, who added that they "shot all over the place, including Thailand, Malaysia, China, Amritsar and Mumbai. The film can be defined as a perfect 'cross-border' comedy."

Produced by Colour Yellow Productions and Eros International, and directed by Mudassar Aziz, Happy Phir Bhaag Jayegi is scheduled for release this Friday.
