Rights issue of Kottayam Kunjachan 2 resolved
Despite the sequel being announced a while back, the makers of the original film had raised objections on filming it without their consent
Kottayam Kunjachan fans, rejoice! The makers of Kottayam Kunjachan 2 have been finally given the nod to go ahead with their sequel to the hit Mammootty film that came out 28 years ago. The news was announced on Facebook yesterday by producer Vijay Babu, whose production company Friday Film House is handling it.
The film will see Mammootty once again reprising his classic character from the original film -- a misunderstood rowdy with a heart of gold and strong sardonic wit to go along with it.
Despite the sequel being announced a while back, the makers of the original film had raised objections on filming it without their consent. It has now been confirmed that all issues have been resolved.
Now that Friday Film House has received the greenlight, they expect to start filming soon, with a plan to release it on Christmas. The film is being directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas, who delivered the cult hits, Aadu and its sequel Aadu 2.
