Disha Patani is Sangamitra

It is now official. Disha Patani, of MS Dhoni: The Untold Story fame, is playing the titular role in Sangamitra. The actress announced the news on Twitter, saying,

Set in 8th century AD, the story will follow Sangamitra's struggles as she saves her kingdom. After Shruti Haasan walked out of the project, rumours were abuzz that Hansika or Nayanthara may star in Sundar C's ambitious project. But the makers zeroed in on Disha and signed her up a month ago.

Sangamitra, which has Jayam Ravi and Arya in the lead, will be made in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The film is to be bankrolled by TSL which recently produced its 100th film Mersal.
