New Malayalam web series in works at SonyLIV

It seems like mainstream streaming platforms are finally coming forward to invest in original web series content from Malayalam. It was only recently that Disney+Hotstar had announced their first-ever Malayalam web series, Kerala Crime Files. Ahammed Khabeer is directing the show, which stars Lal and Aju Varghese in the lead roles. 

We now hear that another Malayalam web series is in the works at SonyLIV. It is helmed by Arun PR, who scripted Jamnya Pyari and directed the Rajisha-starrer Finals. His upcoming series is said to have a female-oriented subject with a bunch of known faces starring in it. An official announcement is keenly awaited.

Meanwhile, E4 Entertainment, the banner which made films like Guppy and Pada, is also backing a new web series with Sunny Wayne, Nikhila Vimal and Aju Varghese as the leads. It is directed by debutant Praveen Chandran, and scripted by Kunjiramayanam-fame Deepu Pradeep. Reports also suggest that Asif Ali is set to make his web series debut with a project helmed by Jan.E.Man director Chidambaram.
