The 1984-released Malayalam film, My Dear Kuttichathan, which was the first 3D film to come out of Indian cinema, is getting an English version. Titled Chota Chetan 3D, the remastered version also has newly added scenes, which were shot for exhibition at the Cannes Film Festival.

My Dear Kuttichathan is essentially a fantasy film about Kuttichathan, a mystical indigenous Genie, and his encounter with three children. Jijo Punnose directed the film, which had its script by Raghunath Paleri. The former's father Navodaya Appachan produced the film.

Jijo supervised the works for the updated version, which has music by prodigy Lydian Nadhaswaram and sound design by Renganaath Ravee. Navodaya Studio will be releasing the film worldwide later this year.
