Kunchacko Boban's Ariyippu to release directly on Netflix
The film directed by Mahesh Narayanan had its world premiere at the 75th Locarno Film Festival
The Kunchacko Boban-Mahesh Narayanan film Ariyippu will release directly on Netflix after completing the festival run. The film had its world premiere earlier this year at the International Competition Section of the 75th Locarno Film Festival. It was later selected for screening at BFI London Film Festival in the Debate Section. Recently, the film was picked up for the 27th Busan International Film festival, which runs from October 5-14.
Ariyippu follows the story of an immigrant couple from Kerala working in a medical gloves factory in North India. Kunchacko Boban and Divyaprabha play the lead roles. Loveleen Mishra, Kannan Arunachalam, Danish Hussain, and Faisal Malik also star in it.
Ariyippu has a script by Mahesh Narayanan, who is co-producing with Kunchacko Boban and Shebin Backer. The film also sees Mahesh reuniting with cinematographer Sanu John Varghese, who had shot the director's Take Off and Malik.
Netflix is expected to announce the premiere date soon.
