Second season of Netflix's Squid Game on the cards

Netflix announced that a second season of the Korean survival drama, Squid Game, is definitely in the works.

While discussing the streaming giant's fourth-quarter earnings of 2021, co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos shared this update. He was asked about the prospect of a second season to Netflix's most-viewed TV series.  "Absolutely," said Sarandos, and added, "The Squid Game universe has just begun."

Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk too had earlier indicated about the popular series returning for a second season.

With over 1.65 billion hours of the show having been watched by its subscribers in the first 28 days of its release, Squid Game became Netflix's biggest-ever TV show.

In Season 1, 456 cash-strapped contestants are invited by a mysterious organisation to compete in a series of children's games with deadly consequences.
