Ajay Devgn thrilled for Akshay Kumar's Chhatrapati Shivaji biopic: He is my favourite Maratha hero

Actor Ajay Devgn has reacted to Akshay Kumar donning the role of Maratha Ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in his forthcoming biopic. The film, titled Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat and directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, went on floors in Mumbai today. It marks Akshay's debut in Marathi.

Earlier today, Akshay posted a video in costume as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Reacting to the transformation, Ajay tweeted, "Dear Akshay Kumar, looking forward to seeing you essay the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Marathi film - वेडात मराठे वीर दौड़ले सात  (Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat). He is my favourite Maratha hero and I’m happy yet another film is being made saluting this great warrior." (sic)

Coincidentally, Ajay had played Tanaji Malusare, a commander in Shivaji's army, in the 2020 blockbuster Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. Actor Sharad Kelkar, who played Chhatrapati Shivaji in Tanhaji and was recently seen as his commander Baji Prabhu Deshpande in the Marathi release Har Har Mahadev, also praised Akshay's look.
