In the teaser of Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Shamshera, the lead actors including Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor tease what the film is going to be about. The tag line of the film is Karan se Dacait and Dharam se Azaad, which hints at the film being centered on dacoits and their struggle for freedom.

The teaser is a minute long and was shared by Yash Raj Films on their social media handle. They wrote, “ A legend will rise on 22nd July! @yrf’s much-awaited big ticket spectacle #Shamshera starring superstar #RanbirKapoor @Vaaniofficial @duttsanjay is set to release at a theatre near you in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.”

The teaser is mainly monochrome and it sees each actor speak a line or two to hint about the film. Sanjay Dutt says, “This story is of the one who said slavery of anyone is not good, neither of others, nor of the people close to us.” Vaani Kapoor says, “This story is of the one who earned a dream about freedom in his father's legacy.”  Ranbir Kapoor completes by saying, “But nobody gives you freedom. You have to win it. Karam se dakait, dharam se azaad.”

The film is directed by Karan Malhotra and will also see Ashutosh Rana, Saurabh Shukla, and Ronit Roy in important roles. It has been speculated that Ranbir Kapoor will play double roles in the film — the titular Shamshera and his son. Shamshera is also expected to be a period action drama.
