The teaser of Sanya Malhotra, Abhimanyu Dassani-starrer Meenakshi Sundareshwar is out. Both the actors play Tamilians in the film, which follows the trials and tribulations of a young couple.
As per the makers, the film encapsulates the various interlinked aspects of relationships, joint families, and the awkwardness in a new marriage.
From the teaser, the film seems to reiterate the stereotypical portrayal of Tamilians in Hindi films. To make it "authentic", there is a Tamil song playing in the background and also the mandatory Rajinikanth reference in the end.
Meenakshi Sundareshwar directed by Vivek Soni is set to release on November 5 on Netflix.
The film is produced by Dharmatic Entertainment, the digital extension of Dharma Productions.
Abhimanyu Dassani made his Bollywood debut in 2018 with Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota. His next release is Nikkama, co-starring Shirley Setia and Shilpa Setty. Sanya Malhotra was last seen in Pagglait. She has finished filming for Love Hostel, a thriller directed by Shanker Raman (Gurgaon). It also features Vikrant Massey and Bobby Deol.
