Amid speculations doing rounds that Ishaan Khatter's upcoming film Pippa is heading for an OTT release, the makers of the film have rubbished the rumours in a statement released on Friday.

In a joint statement from Multiplex Association of India, the makers of Pippa referred to a newspaper article that said claimed the film heading towards an OTT release. The statement further referred to the article pointing out the "completely unsubstantiated assertions" issues the makers have with multiplex operators, resulting in the OTT release.

"RSVP and Roy Kapur Films have no ongoing issues with multiplex operators. Any rumours or articles suggesting otherwise are baseless and unfounded. We all all committed to working together to bring quality content to audiences in cinemas across India,” the statement read.

The makers also reiterated that Pippa is made for big screen and official announcement on the release date will be made soon.

The film, directed by Raja Krishna Menon, is based on the India-Pakistan war of 1971 that led to the liberation and birth of Bangladesh. Apart from Ishaan, Pippa also stars Mrunal Thakur, Priyanshu Painyuli and Soni Razdan. Pippa is based on The Burning Chaffees written by Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta. It is produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP and Roy Kapur Films.
