Brahmastra global collections see a 13.33 per cent jump on Day 2: Report

Brahmastra Part One: Shiva minted Rs 85 crore on the global box office on Day 2 of its release, as per a press release by the makers. This is about a 13 per cent jump from the first day collection of Rs 75 crore.

As per film critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh, Brahmastra’s domestic business on Day 2 stands somewhere between Rs 37.5 crore and Rs 38.5 crore.

The total global box office collection of Brahmastraas per official reports, is Rs 160 crore.

With such collections, the film seems to have broken Hindi cinema’s dry spell on the box office. Before Brahmastra, star-wagon projects like Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan tanked commercially. There were also widespread boycott calls on social media against the film over lead actor Ranbir Kapoor previous comments on beef.

Earlier, reports had claimed that PVR and INOX Leisure's shares dipped on Friday due to poor reviews of Brahmastra. The combined valuation loss is said to have been around Rs. 940 crore.

However, the reports were refuted by PVR CEO Kamal Gianchandani, who claimed that Brahmastra did a business of Rs 8.18 crore at his chains.

Addressing the reports, Kama tweeted, "It amazes me, the false and negative info about @BrahmastraFilm on the internet and in the media. Is it a lack of understanding or is it intentionally designed to cast doubts?”

Brahmastra, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Mouni Roy, is made at an estimated budget of Rs 410 crore.
