Lately, all the top celebrities are facing the same question about the North vs South cinema debate. Earlier, Kamal Haasan weighed in on the trend, who claimed regional cinema doing well across the country is not a new trend. Suryavanshi director Rohit Shetty was asked about the same in a recent brand promo event with Ranveer Singh. Rohit took a similar stance and said that South Indian cinema has always been making an impact in the North.

He added that Bollywood can never go out of trend. He was quoted as saying, "Bollywood khatam trend will never happen. The trend of Bollywood khatam (Bollywood is over) will never happen. In the 80s, when VCRs came to the forefront, people said that theatre will go out of business, and Bollywood is finished. Then, recently with the boom of OTT, many people said that Bollywood is finished. So Bollywood kabhi khatam nahi hoga (Bollywood will never end)."

He also noted that Hindi remakes of South Indian films have happened throughout the industry and the trend didn't start one fine day. "When you see the history of cinema, you will realise that south films have not come here (in north belt) suddenly. In the 50s and 60s, we had Shashi Kapoor's movie Pyar Kiye Jaa which was a remake of a Tamil film. Even Jeetendra ji's films like Himmatwala and Mawaali were remakes of south films," he said.

On the work front, Rohit Shetty last made Suryavanshi, which turned out to be a hit. He is next teaming up with Ranveer Singh for the film Cirkus.
