“I am star-struck with sports stars,” said Taapsee Pannu, who is playing the role of cricketer Mithali Raj, in the upcoming biopic Shabaash Mithu.

The sports biopic, directed by Srijit Mukherji, is based on the life of the former Test and ODI captain of the India women's national cricket team. Mithali is known for her record-breaking 23-year-long career in international cricket and for making over 10000 runs in ODI.

The film is set to hit the big screens on 15 July 2022. Ahead of the release, speaking about her love for sports, Taapsee said, “I haven’t seen many movies while growing up until college but I have followed sports since my childhood. So, whenever I see a sports star, I am always starstruck which comes with a huge amount of respect that I have for each one of them.”

“I always ensure that I don't trespass a line when I have a sports star around me and avoid being my usual chirpy self,” she added.

Shabaash Mithu also stars Mumtaz Sorcar, Vijay Raaz, Brijendra Kala and Devadarshini. It marks Taapsee’s third sports film after Saand Ki Aankh (2019) and Rashmi Rocket (2021).
