Very special film: Akshay Kumar shares new stills from Raksha Bandhan

Akshay Kumar has shared new behind-the-scenes stills from his upcoming film Raksha Bandhan, directed by Aanand L Rai and noted that this was a "very special film".

Taking to his Twitter handle, Akshay said, "A film celebrating the most special bond where there genuinely was a lot of bonding. Sharing a few special moments of this very special film, coming to a theatre near you in 1 month. Raksha Bandhan releasing on 11th August in cinemas."

The images feature Akshay Kumar with director Aanand L Rai, as well as his co-stars Bhumi Pednekar and Sadia Khateeb among others.

Filmmaker Aanand L Rai also shared an image with his lead actor where he was seen holding Akshay's hand. “There is only one thing more precious than our time and that's who we spend it on. 1 month to go, Akshay Kumar. Raksha Bandhan in theatres near you on August 11,” he wrote on his Instagram handle. 

In Raksha Bandhan, Akshay Kumar plays the role of a dutiful brother who has the responsibility of marrying off his four sisters. In the process, he is delaying his own marriage with his childhoood sweetheart Bhumi. Akshay works as a confectioner in a small town and how he arranges funds and finds grooms for his sisters forms the centre of the film.

Akshay’s sisters in the film are played by Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna, Sadia Khateeb and Smrithi Shrikanth. Raksha Bandhan is produced by Zee Studios, Colour Yellow Productions and Cape of Good Films.

Raksha Bandhan is written by screenwriter-couple Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon. The film is set to release on August 11 and will clash with Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha at the box office.
