Kiran Rao made her directorial debut with Dhobi Ghat (2011). The film, a drama, explored multiple lives linked by the city of Mumbai.
According to reports, Kiran has started filming for her second directorial in a town near Pune. Unlike Dhobi Ghat, her latest is a 'massy entertainer' in the comedy-drama genre. The film is being produced by Kiran's ex-husband Aamir Khan. It's been written by Biplab Goswami and Sneha Desai (screenplay), and centers on three characters. Kiran has cast actor Sparsh Shrivastav as her lead. Sparsh essays Sunny in the Netflix crime series Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega.
Actors Pratibha Ranta and Nitanshi Goel complete the trio. The first schedule of Kiran's film will be completed this month, reports state. The director plans to wrap up production by April this year. The film's music will be composed by Ram Sampath with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The duo had jammed with Aamir Khan Productions on Delhi Belly.
