A couple on the run… chased by a ruthless mercenary.  It’s an old premise until two crucial elements fall into place. One, the director on deck is Shanker Raman, who made the gritty, piercingly hilarious Gurgaon in 2016. Two, the mercenary is played by Bobby Deol.

Zee5 has released the trailer of Love Hostel, which premieres on the platform on February 25. Vikrant Massey and Sanya Malhotra are a couple in love. Shunned by their families, they elope and take shelter in a district safe home. Safe? Not with Dagar (Bobby) around. Surreal as it is to hear the actor in a thick northern accent — “Kyun kara Dagar ko dubble-crossh?” — it is equally thrilling to savour his bestial look: mean beard, scar, scowl. He also walks scary, and betrays no emotion. This is Bobby in full Anton Chigur-Jackie Cogan mode, with just the slightest hint of his Bichhoo serial killer now all gruff and graveled.

"Dagar is a character who has his own ideologies and anyone who goes against it, faces his wrath," Bobby shares. "He is a ruthless mercenary with a cause. I loved the way the character was written, it’s unlike anything I have played before. Since the character was out of my comfort zone, it took me some time to agree to play Dagar but I am glad we worked it out".

Love Hostel is produced by Drishyam Films and Red Chillies Entertainment.
