Why do you dub your films in Hindi then?: Ajay Devgn responds to Kichcha Sudeep's 'not national language' comment

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn has reacted to Kannada star Kichcha Sudeep's comment that 'Hindi is no more a national language.' Sudeep had made the comment at the trailer launch of R: The Deadliest Gangster Ever a few days ago. 

Responding to a question about pan-Indian films, Sudeep had said, "Someone said that a pan India film was made in Kannada. I'd like to make a small correction. Hindi is no more a national language. They (Bollywood) are doing pan-India films today. They are struggling by dubbing in Telugu and Tamil, but it's (success) not happening. Today we are making films that are going everywhere."

In response, Ajay, writing in Hindi, tweeted to Sudeep asking why does he dub his movies in the language. 

"My brother, if according to you Hindi isn't our national language, then why do you dub films in your mother-tongue and release them in Hindi? Hindi was, is and will always be our mother-tongue and national language. Jan Gan Man," Ajay wrote. 

Ajay's tweet comes amid the debate over the push for Hindi as an alternative langauge to English in India. Such was suggested by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the 37th meeting of the Parliamentary Official Language Committee earlier this month. Shah had also encouraged people from all states to interact with each other in Hindi, causing an uproar. 

Meanwhile, the success of films like RRR and KGF: Chapter 2 has cast a shadow on the supremacy of Bollywood (and primarily Hindi language) films.
