After a slew of romantic hits, Mukesh Bhatt and Jio Studios have joined hands for their first digital venture. The show, titled Ranjish Hi Sahi, will premiere on Voot Select.

Created by Mahesh Bhatt, the dramatic love story is headlined by Tahir Raj Bhasin, Amrita Puri, and Amala Paul (making her Bollywood debut). Set against the backdrop of the golden era of 70s Bollywood, the series revolves around the lives of struggling film director Shankar (Tahir), diva Aamna (Amala Paul), and Shankar’s wife Anju (Amrita).

A complicated love triangle ensues when the fledgling director finds a soulmate in the yesteryear star.

Ranjish Hi Sahi is written and directed by Pushpdeep Bhardwaj. The series explores themes of love, trust, separation, and stardom. The plot echoes Mahesh's own fabled romance with screen goddess Parveen Babi. He had previously explored this episode in the semi-autobiographical film Arth (1982). Woh Lamhe (2006), directed by Mohit Suri from a story by Mahesh, had a similar plot.
