Actor Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday, visited the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, ahead of the release of her upcoming film Dhaakad. She was joined by her co-stars Arjun Rampal and Divya Dutta. During a media interaction outside the temple, Kangana was asked to give her take on the Kashi Vishwanath Temple-Gyanvapi Mosque issue.

"There's Lord Krishna in every particle of Mathura & Lord Ram in every particle of Ayodhya. Similarly, there's Lord Shiva in every particle of Kashi. He doesn't need a structure, he resides in every particle," she said.

The debate over the Vishwanath Temple-Gyanvapi mosque issue has been raging in the country. The temple and the mosque stand adjacent in Varanasi. There has been a legal tussle over the mosque as several petitions had been filed before the Supreme Court, Allahabad High Court and Varanasi Court alleging that it was built by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb by demolishing the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in the 16th century.

Earlier on Monday, a Varanasi court had ordered sealing of a pond at the Gyanvapi mosque site, stating that a Shivling has been found there during a court-mandated videography survey. A mosque committee member, however, disputed this claim and said that the structure was not a Shivling but a part of a fountain mechanism at the ‘wazookhana’ where devotees carry out ablutions before offering namaz.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing in the case till Friday. It has also asked the Varanasi court to not proceed with the trial today as the plaintiffs needed more time.

Kangana’s Dhaakad is set to release on May 20.
