Judi Dench opens up about her future acting career

Judi Dench, who has had a glittering career as a screen and theatre artist, has suggested that her film career might be over. Dench, who was last seen as herself in 2022's Quintessentially British, said at the recent Chelsea Flower Show that she does not have any films in the offing, citing her lack of vision. Further, according to a Mirror report, Dench's agent had no further comments to make.

Dench has age-related macular degeneration, an eye disease affecting around 2 percent of the UK's population. Her latest remark stands in stark contrast to what she told journalist Louis Theroux earlier. Back then, Dench said, "I don’t want to retire. I’m not doing much at the moment because I can’t see. It’s bad. I have a photographic memory so a person saying to me, ‘This is your line…’ I can do that.”

Dench won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 1999 for her performance in Shakespeare in Love and is best known for playing M in eight James Bond films, from 1995's GoldenEye to 2015's Spectre.
