The curtains have closed on the comedy series Young Sheldon after seven seasons. The Big Bang Theory prequel series has officially wrapped filming. Iain Armitage and Raegan Revord sharing emotional tributes on social media.

In less than a month, Young Sheldon will air its special one-hour finale. Specific details about it are still under wraps, although it has already been confirmed that Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will appear as Sheldon and Amy.

Armitage and Revord, as well as director Alex Reid, took to Instagram to announce the end of Young Sheldon season 7 filming. Armitage posted a sweet throwback on Instagram of his younger self on set, with the caption: "This is 8 yr old me getting ready to film the very first scene I did as Young Sheldon. Melissa Peterman [who plays Brenda Sparks on the show] recently asked what I would go back and tell my younger self. Maybe I wouldn’t tell him anything and I would just let life unfold as it does, but I think he’d be so surprised and happy to see where we are now. I sure am."

He continued: "I don’t think this kid could have anticipated what it would feel like to film our final scene all these years later. Thank you, amazing crew, past and present, and those who have been there the whole time. I love you all so much!"

Director Alex Reid posted a heartfelt remembrance and wrote on Instagram, "I can’t express how much my time on this show has meant to me." He added, "To watch these actors evolve through the years felt like watching my own family grow and change."

"Right now I have no words but in the coming days I’ll post some of my photos from the 36 episodes I was fortunate enough to direct. This is from this afternoon, before we shot our last scene."

Revord revealed her emotional state, sharing of an image of her hugging Armitage.

In Young Sheldon, Iain Armitage stars as Sheldon, with Zoe Perry as Mary Cooper, Lance Barber as George Cooper Sr., Annie Potts as Connie “Meemaw” Tucker, Montana Jordan as Georgie Cooper Jr., and Raegan Revord as Missy Cooper. Jim Parsons, who played Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory, serves as the series’ narrator. The final episode is set to air on May 16.
