Apple TV+ teaser unveils new line-up of series and films 

Apple TV+ has shared a teaser highlighting its upcoming line-up of original series and films that will debut on the streaming platform, from Idris Elba series Hijack to The Crowded Room starring Tom Holland.

The upcoming lineup includes:

The Crowded Room- premieres June 9

Starring and executive produced by Tom Holland, The Crowded Room will consist of 10 episodes and stars Tom Holland. The series follows Danny Sullivan, a man who is arrested following his involvement in a shooting in New York City in 1979. The series also stars Amanda Seyfried, Emmy Rossum, Sasha Lane, Will Chase and Lior Raz among others. It is backed by Apple Studios and New Regency.

Swagger S2- premieres June 23

Inspired by NBA star Kevin Durant’s experiences, Swagger explores the world of youth basketball, and the players, their families and coaches, amid opportunism and corruption. The show will also throw light on American life. The sports drama is directed by Reggie Rock Bythewood.

Hijack- premieres June 28

Hijack, like the title suggests, will follow the journey of a hijacked plane en route to London over a seven-hour journey, as the authorities on the ground scramble for answers. Idris Elba will play the role of negotiator Sam Nelson who needs to save the lives of the passengers. He will also serve as executive producer. The series is created by George Kay and Jim Field Smith, who also wrote and lead directed the series respectively. It also stars Archie Panjabi.

The Afterparty S2- premieres July 12

The Afterparty will explore different characters account of a fateful evening and will be told through the lens of film genres and visual storytelling methods. In season two, a wedding is ruined when the groom is murdered and every guest is a suspect.

Foundation S2- premieres July 14, 2023

Based on Isaac Asimov’s novel Foundation, it chronicles a band of exiles on their monumental journey to save humanity and rebuild civilisation amid the fall of the Galactic Empire. More than a century after the season one finale, tension mounts throughout the galaxy in Foundation season two. The epic saga from storyteller David S Goyer and features Jared Harris, Lee Pace, Lou Llobell and Leah Harvey.

Stephen Curry: Underrated- premieres July 21

The film, which will premiere at Sundance Film Festival, is a coming-of-age story of one of the most influential, dynamic and unexpected players in the history of basketball: Stephen Curry. The documentary will blend archival footage, interviews as it will show Curry’s rise from an undersized college player at a small town Division I college to a four-time NBA champion.

The Beanie Bubble- premieres July 28

The Beanie Bubble is a period drama, set against the backdrop of the 80s and 90s. It will revolve around the rise and success of the toy company Beanie Babies, told through the perspective of three woman protagonists. Elizabeth Banks, Zach Galifianakis, Sarah Snook, Geraldine Viswanathan, and Kurt Yaeger are part of the cast of the film directed by Kristin Gore and Damain Kulash.

 Physical S3- premieres August 2

The dramedy, which will come to end with third season, features Rose Byrne and is from creator, writer and executive producer Annie Weisman. The 10-series is set in the 1980s San Diego and is a half-hour dark comedy following Sheila Rubin, a quietly tortured, seemingly dutiful housewife supporting her smart but controversial husband’s bid for state assembly. But behind closed doors, Sheila has her own darkly funny take on life she rarely lets the world see. This series is directed by Stephanie Laing.

Lessons in Chemistry- premieres fall 2023

Set in the early 1950s, Lessons in Chemistry series follows Elizabeth Zott, whose dream of being a scientist is put on hold in a patriarchal society. When Elizabeth finds herself fired from her lab, she accepts a job as a host on a TV cooking show, and sets out to teach a nation of overlooked housewives — and the men who are suddenly listening — a lot more than recipes. It is based on the bestselling novel from Bonnie Garmus. The series also stars Lewis Pullman, Aja Naomi King, Stephanie Koenig, Kevin Sussman, Patrick Walker and Thomas Mann.

The Morning Show S3- premieres fall 2023

The Morning Sho” stars Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston, who also serve as executive producers, and is directed and executive produced by Mimi Leder, with Charlotte Stoudt serving as show runner and executive producer for season three. 

Sugar- premieres 2023

Sugar is a series that follows John Sugar, a private detective investigating the mysterious disappearance of a legendary Hollywood producer’s beloved granddaughter in modern-day Los Angeles. In addition to Farrell, the cast includes Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Amy Ryan, Anna Gunn, James Cromwell, Dennis Boutsikaris, Alex Hernandez and Lindsay Pulsipher. The series is directed by Fernando Meirelles.

Flora and Son- premieres 2023

The film, which will premiere at Sundance Film Festival Selection, is written and directed by John Carney. It will Flora, a single mother who argues with her son Max in an attempt to find him a hobby, retrieves a guitar from a dumpster and discovers that one person's rubble can be a family's salvation.

Palm Royale- premieres 2023

Palm Royale is a 10-episode Apple Original comedy from creator Abe Sylvia and director Tate Taylor, starring Kristen Wiig and Laura Dern. It follows Maxine Simmons’ attempt to secure her seat at America’s most exclusive table: Palm Beach high society. As she strives to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots, Palm Royale asks the same questions that still baffle us today: “Who gets a seat at the table?,” “How do you get there?” and “What will you sacrifice along the way?” Set during the early 1970s, it is written, executive produced and show-run by Sylvia, and directed by Taylor.

Masters of the Air

The limited series will reunite Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman after Band of Brothers and The Pacific. It stars Austin Butler, and follows the true, deeply personal story of the American bomber boys in World War II. The series is written by John Orloff and Graham Yost. The cast includes Austin Butler, Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann and Raff Law.
