Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon to premiere at 76 Cannes Film Festival

Martin Scorsese’s much-anticipated film Killers of the Flower Moon will premiere at the 76 Cannes Film Festival on May 20. The organizers of the festival confirmed the news on Friday. The film will hit limited theatres on October 6 and go wide on October 20 in the US, and It will then stream globally on Apple TV+.

The screening will be the first Scorsese film to be screened in an official selection at Cannes since After Hours in 1986. The film also earned a Best Director accolade to the auteur. Scorsese’s Taxi Driver won Cannes’ Palme d’Or for best film in 1976, and the director was head of the Cannes jury in 1998.

Written by the Scorsese along with Eric Roth, Killers of the Flower Moon is based on David Grann’s bestselling book of the same name. The film is set in 1920s Oklahoma and shows the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, a string of brutal crimes that came to be known as the Reign of Terror, according to Apple TV+ note.

Killers of the Flower Moon stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, Jillian Dion and Tantoo Cardinal.

Backed by Appel Studios alongside Imperative Entertainment, Sikelia Productions and Appian Way, Scorsese, Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas, and Daniel Lupi serve as producers. DiCaprio, Rick Yorn, Adam Sommer, Marianne Bower, Lisa Frechette, John Atwood, Shea Kammer and Niels Juul are executive producers.
