Oscars 2023: MK Stalin wishes The Elephant Whisperers and Naatu Naatu team for their wins

It was a big day for India at the Oscars. Out of the three nominations, India bagged two awards, including Naatu Naatu for Best Original Song and The Elephant Whisperers for Best Documentary Short. Taking to social media to congratulate the award winners MM Keeravani, the composer of RRR, and Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga, the makers of the documentary, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin conveyed his wishes.

Reacting to The Elephant Whisperers win, a home-grown story from Tamil Nadu, Stalin wrote, “Congrats to Kartiki Gonsalves & Guneet Monga on winning the #Oscar. No better news to wake up to than two women bringing the first ever Oscar for an Indian Production. The patient making & the moving story of The Elephant Whisperers deserve all the praises & accolades it's getting.”

The documentary short is about two elephant caretakers, Bomman and Bellie, who become parents to two elephant calves Raghu and Ammukutty. The documentary is set in the Mudumalai Reserve in Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, congratulating the team of Naatu Naatu, the Chief Minister said, “Naatu Naatu has created history by becoming the first Indian & Asian song to win the Oscars. Congrats MM Keeravaani garu, Chandrabose, Rahul Sipligunj & Kaala Bhairava, SS Rajamouli, Junior NTR, Ram Charan, and the whole team of RRR for this stupendous achievement.”
