The Powerpuff Girls live-action adaptation gets cancelled

The Powerpuff Girls was created by Craig McCracken

While a slew of live-action adaptations are in the making like Moana, Bambi, and others, Warner Bros Television has axed its planned adaptation of The Powerpuff Girls titled Powerpuff.

The adaptation was first set up at CW with actors Chloe Bennett, Dove Cameron, and Yana Perrault cast as the leads. However, in May 2021, the show was cancelled by CW. Later taken by Warner Bros TV, reports now suggest that the series is completely written off.

The Powerpuff Girls, created by Craig McCracken, centred on three small girls, Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup who possessed superpowers and fought against the evil forces. The show ran for six seasons and aired from 1999 to 2005.

It is be noted that while the live action is cancelled, an animated version of The Powerpuff Girls will be getting a reboot with the show creator McCracken also part of the project.
