Veteran Actor Henry Silva, known for Ocean's 11 and The Manchurian Candidate, dies at 95

Legendary actor Henry Silva, known for his roles in The Manchurian Candidate and Ocean’s 11, has passed away at 95. The news was confirmed by the actor’s son Scott Silva. Henry Silva was once the most sought-after actor for playing the antagonist in films. He has also appeared in voice acting roles, including Bane in the Batman and Superman animated films.

Silva turned heads with his role in the 1962 film The Manchurian Candidate. Directed by John Frankenheimer, the feature-length adaptation of the Richard Condon novel went on to become a commercial and critical success. 

He played the titular role in the 1963 film Johnny Cool, which also featured Sammy Davis Jr. He also appeared as a trigger-happy drug addict in the Burt Reynolds film Sharky’s Machine and was also most noted for playing a corrupt CIA officer in the 1998 Steven Segal film Above the Law.

The veteran actor was trained at the New York Actors Studio and went on to appear in many Broadway plays. He started his career as a serious actor but then was later typecast as a bad guy. With a career spanning over a decade and with around 130 appearances in films and television series, Henry Silva has etched a legacy for himself that will remain to be a part of Hollywood film history.
