It has been reported that filmmaker Guy Ritchie will be helming a live-action feature film adaptation of Hercules for Disney. The Snatch-filmmaker had directed the highly successful live-action remake of Aladdin in 2019.

According to Deadline, AGBO, the production house spearheaded by Joe & Anthony Russo will be producing the film and the producers are currently looking for writers to develop the first draft penned by Dave Callaham. Considering the nascency of the project, details such as the cast and crew are currently under tight wraps and a better idea will prevail over the coming few months.

Over the years, there have been multiple iterations of the mythological character, including Arnold Schwarzenegger's Hercules in New York, Dwayne Johnson's Hercules and The Legend of Hercules.

Ritchie, on the other hand, has two directorial ventures coming up: an untitled action led by Jake Gyllenhaal and Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre starring his frequent collaborator Jason Statham in the lead role. Ritchie and Statham have earlier worked together in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Revolver and most recently, Wrath of Man.
