Jane Campion has made history as the first woman to be nominated twice for a directing Oscar. She is nominated for The Power of the Dog starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, Kodi Smit-McPhee in the lead roles. Steven Spielberg, on the other hand, has been nominated for West Side Story.
This nomination makes him the only director to have been nominated every decade for six consecutive decades. Incidentally, Campion and Spielberg were nominated in the same category in 1993. While the former was nominated for the Piano, the latter, who went on to win that year's Oscar, was nominated for Schindler's List.
The 94th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 27 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
