Ben Kingsley to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Oscar winner Ben Kingsley is reportedly making a comeback to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The veteran actor will reprise his role as Trevor Slattery in the upcoming Wonder Man series currently under production for Disney+.

Trevor Slattery was first introduced in Iron Man 3 as a mild-mannered actor hired to pretend as the leader of the Ten Rings organisation The Mandarin. The character recently appeared in Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings. In the comics, Simon Williams who goes by the superhero name Wonder Man belongs to a wealthy family who loses their fortune due to competition with Tony Stark’s Stark Industries. A dejected Simon then goes to villain Baron Zemo who gives him superhuman strength to make him fight the Avengers. Wonder Man eventually understands the errors of his ways and joins the heroes.

Ben Kingsley’s role and its prominence in the series are currently unknown. Marvel has not officially confirmed the status of the Wonder Man show yet. It was earlier reported that Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang Chi, was developing a Wonder Man series for Marvel. Andrew Guest, who has writing credits on comedy shows like 30 Rock and Community, is hired as head writer for the Wonder Man series.
