Jake Gyllenhaal in talks to star in Road House remake

Jake Gyllenhaal is reportedly in negotiations to headline the remake of the 1989 action film, Road House, currently in development at MGM. Reports also suggest that Doug Liman of Edge of Tomorrow-fame is in talks to helm the project. However, both the actor and director are yet to make a decision.

If the project materialises, it'll be the first time Gyllenhaal will be teaming up with Liman.

The original film, directed by Rowdy Herrington, featured Patrick Swayze in the lead role as a bouncer. Though the film was met with mixed critical reception and moderate box office success, it has attained cult classic status, and has played a crucial role in catalysing Swayze's fame.

On the other hand, Gyllenhaal has multiple films, including Ambulance, Francis & the Godfather, A Suspence Novelist’s Trail of Deception, The Division, The Son, Combat Control, Suddenly, Oblivion Song, and Prophet in different stages of production.
