Dennis Quaid has announced that he will produce a biopic on country music legend Charley Pride. Titled American Pride, the film will have a script written by Dianne Huston and is set to be directed by Craig Brewer.

The film will follow the life of Pride, the Grammy award-nominated musician who rose to fame in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The self-taught guitar player also shined on the baseball field. His first career was as a pitcher and top tier batter. His incredible talents even earned him a shot at trying out for the New York Mets, however, Pride realised that music was his true calling.

According to reports, Quaid spent a lot of time chatting with Pride and his wife to get a first-hand account of his stories. Unfortunately, Pride passed away in 2020 due to COVID-19.

Notably, Quaid will also star in the film as "Cowboy" Jack Clement, the man who worked with the musician in writing and recording several hit tunes.

American Pride will be produced by Bonniedale, Quaid's company, in which he will team up with his wife Laura Quaid and producer Ben Howard.
