Trailer of The Suicide Squad released

James Gunn, who helmed Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel, is directing The Suicide Squad

CE Features

The first trailer of The Suicide Squad, the latest entrant in the DC Extended Universe, has been released.

The film, which is intended to be a standalone sequel to the Suicide Squad, starkly differs from the 2016-film in terms of its tonality. While filmmaker David Ayer approached the original with a darker tone, James Gunn, who has directed the sequel, seems to have opted for a light-hearted treatment.

The Suicide Squad brings back characters from the original Suicide Squad including Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), and Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), while also introducing new characters such as Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Peacemaker (John Cena), and King Shark (voice by Sylvester Stallone), to name a few.

The Suicide Squad will be released in theatres and HBO Max on August 6.
