Bangles are for wimps. That’s the macho assertion made by Akshay Kumar’s character in the trailer for Laxmmi Bomb. The actor plays a sceptical man who visits his girlfriend’s (Kiara Advani) house to seek her hand in marriage. There, he is haunted by a female spirit who inducts him to all things ‘womanly’: effete walk, exaggerated gestures, and of course, bangles and sarees.

There’s also a revenge plot in there somewhere, though the trailer mostly busies itself with comic set pieces and lots of slapping and hitting. “Laxmmi has come to wreak havoc,” Akshay says near in the end, wielding a trident like goddess Durga, the divine feminine.

Directed by Raghava Lawrence, Laxmmi Bomb is a remake of his 2011 Tamil horror-comedy Muni 2: Kanchana. The film is set for release on November 9 on Disney+ Hotstar. The supporting cast includes Rajesh Sharma, Manu Rishi, Ashwini Kalsekar and Tusshar Kapoor.
