Rajiv Menon says Putham Pudhu Kaalai is an attempt to bring hope to people in these tough times. "We don't how long we are going to go through this. And television is only bringing bad news to people. More people are dying, MPs are dying, and even the US president is affected. Even the secret service is not able to stop it. That's the state of things. Amidst all this, you wonder what will happen to the entertainment industry."

"And that's when I was approached to make a film about hope. It's about how people are coping in this situation. It's not a comedy or a laugh-riot but bittersweet stories of people going through struggles and coming out with stronger with hope."
