Director Chandra Siddharth, known for films like Aa Naluguru, Appudappudu, Madhumasam, Idi Sangathi and Andari Bandhuvaya, is back again. His last film, Aataadhara Siva, was released in 2018. Now, the director is returning with an interesting title, which is said to be the longest in Telugu cinema history.
He has carved a distinct identity for himself as a filmmaker with a unique sensibility through these films. His latest directorial venture is titled Ee Paata Korinavaru Nemalipalem Nundi Rama, Jyotsna, Nandu, Murali, Kabir, Dhol Ravi Modalaguvaru. The film carries the subtitle, "A Forbidden Raga from a Forbidden Saga."
Interestingly, Chandra Siddharth himself is producing the film under his Filmotsav banner. The story is based on the work of noted filmmaker and writer Madan. Harsha is making his debut as a lead actor, while Ammayra Goswami, Sujana Reddy, Inaya Sultana, Ravi Varma, Anirudh Srivastava, Ashokvardhan, Rekha Nirosha, Sunny, Giri and others play key roles. The makers are gearing up to release the film on September 18.
Known for his powerful portrayal of human relationships and emotions in Aa Naluguru, Chandra Siddharth is now presenting another unconventional film, this time set against the backdrop of a neuroscientific thriller. The film is described as the first-ever mystery musical and explores the intriguing relationship between sound, music and the human brain, weaving elements such as sound therapy, brain mapping, memories and guilt into a gripping mystery narrative.
“This is the longest title in the history of Indian cinema. My friend Madan and I had wanted to turn this story into a film. This was the last film Madan planned before his death. Earlier, I had made Aa Naluguru based on a story by Madan,” said Chandra Siddharth.
Talking about the story, he said that every night, exactly at 10:30 PM, the same song is broadcast from a radio station. The song is requested by Rama, Jyotsna, Nandu, Murali, Kabir, Dhol Ravi and others from Nemalipalem, a place that no longer exists. This forms the basis for the film’s lengthy title, Ee Paata Korinavaru Nemalipalem Nundi Rama, Jyotsna, Nandu, Murali, Kabir, Dhol Ravi Modalaguvaru.
The protagonist Sagar’s obsession with the song leads him into a labyrinth of fragmented memories, guilt and a scientific experiment that has erased his very soul.
This high-concept psychological thriller blends sound, neuroscience, memories, guilt and love. It is an experimental attempt designed to offer audiences a completely different cinematic experience. Music plays a very important role in the film, which features four songs composed by Jay Rex.
“We are bringing the film to audiences on the 18th of this month,” said Chandra Siddharth.
